    In the first half of this year, the results of the measles outbreak in Lithuania came out. Based on the data of the information system "Sveidra" of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), as many as 552 patients registered as the patients in Kaunas and Marijampolė county health care institutions suffered from measles during this period. They were provided with outpatient and inpatient treatment services.

The so-called Wise List of Medicines of a recommendatory nature, which is planned to be prepared at the initiative of the Ministry of Health, and intended for healthcare and pharmacy professionals and patients, is expected to help to strengthen these principles of rational use of medicines in Lithuania.

    The number of ambulance teams is increased in the country to ensure more efficient provision of ambulance services. There are plans to establish up to 4 additional permanent ambulance teams in each ambulance station of 5 regions of the country – Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Panevėžys and Šiauliai, that not only provide services but also manage ambulance forces.

The applicant was interested what does she need to do to get the Compulsory Health Insurance (CHI) cover and become entitled to free health care services that are provided to insured individuals not only for herself but also for her son who was born in Lithuania.

    From now on, the citizens of our country and their family members having decided to move for safety reasons from a foreign state facing humanitarian crisis where they reside or work will be insured under the Compulsory Health Insurance (CHI) scheme using the funds of the state budget. Such proposal of the Ministry of Health (MF) was today approved by the Ministers cabinet.
