Functions of the National Health Insurance Fund

The National Health Insurance Fund shall perform the following functions:

 

1) preparation of a draft budget of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF), annual reports on its implementation and its financial statements, also consolidated financial statements of the CHIF, and implementation of the budget of the CHIF;

2) supervision of the activities of the Territorial Health Insurance Funds (THIF);

3) building up of a reserve from the budget funds of the CHIFund and its use in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Law on Health Insurance and other legal acts;

4) use of funds temporarily available in the budget of the CHIF in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Law on Health Insurance;

5) auditing of the THIF or signing of agreements with audit firms for the audit of THIF;

6) managing the Register of Persons Eligible for the Compulsory Health Insurance in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Law on State Registers, the Law on the Rights of Patients and Compensation for the Damage to their Health, the regulations of the Register of Persons Eligible for the Compulsory Health Insurance and other legal acts;

7) other functions prescribed by the Law on Health Insurance, the regulations of the NHIF and other legal acts.
